Periodontist

Periodontist
is a dentist specializing in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the gums and supporting structures of the teeth ( e.g. gingivitis, periodontitis, etc.) and in the placement and maintenance of dental implants. Periodontists are well versed in conventional non-surgical and surgical treatments, including procedures to regenerate lost bone and gum tissue as well as cosmetic periodontal procedures to improve smiles. They usually have three or more years of postdoctoral education after graduating dental school. They are also required to attend annual continuing education courses in order to maintain their specialty practice.
